It’s Easy to Create a Remarkable Moment
Word of Mouth Marketing is giving people a reason to talk about your products and services, and making it easier for that conversation to take place. All WOM starts with a topic of conversation, a reason for people to talk about you. Customers won’t talk about you if you don’t give them something to say.
The specifics of this message don’t matter. Great topics are simple, shareable, and surprising; whatever gets the customer excited is a great topic. Think about it, we talk about fun and unexpected things; blending an iPhone, Burger King’s Subservient Chicken, Jones Soda’s Turkey & Gravy soda, and Duct Tape’s ‘Stuck at Prom’ campaign.
One of the topics I created at Kaleidoscope is the Red Box campaign. Every time a bride and groom book our services for their wedding, we send them a gorgeous red box filled with a blockbuster gift card, popcorn, and movie candy.
The Red Box has become one of our best conversation topics. Why? It’s simple. It’s surprising. It makes people want to talk. It’s easy to talk about. It’s an easy idea to share. Most importantly, it reminds people of our company and start them thinking about the other positive qualities of the brand.
Moreover, this program reinforces our brand position as a customer-centered, stress free service provider. The Red Box communicates that we’re here to take the pressure off the bride and groom during the most exciting, and stressful, time of their lives.
Recognizing that a happy customer is our greatest endorsement, we work hard to build a great experience and create customer enthusiasm. The Red Box campaign shows that it’s easy to create a remarkable moment that gets customers excited to talk about you.
